~ Pasko Sa Negros ~

"When I was young, poverty was so common that we didn't know it had a name."
~Lyndon B. Johnson~

Once upon a time I have promised myself that if GOD bless me with bountiful gift and blessing, I will share this blessing back to the people. God never let me down; he has provided me a gift of generosity, wisdom, great family, blessing, good health, and love abundantly. As I promised, I fulfilled it, and will continue to fulfill it until I can not move on.

In 1999, I have started a "PASKO FUNDS” - "Philippines Action Services Kin Offering FUNDS". A week before Christmas, I collected small donations from my friends and family to send off to my barangay (where I grew up), for Christmas packages. As soon as the money arrived in PI, my family and friends will draw up a plan how best use the money for how many families and later will decided to purchase the kits. Due to inadequate funds, only families that needed it the most will receive the meal package. Meal Package contains rice, meat, vegetables, and spices; sometimes when we have extra we added fruits and other stuffing’s. December of 1999, we have started from 20 families; in December 2000 were 35 families; December 2001 were 52 families; December 2002 were 88 families; December 2003 were 98 families and five years later, December 2004 we have distributed "one day meal" package 'not one meal a day, but one day meals (three times a day meals) for over 100 families. Every year, lots of friends, colleagues, and families donated because every year our lists of families keep getting longer and longer.

My goal in life is to help lessen the starvation of our people. I am not the only one making this project possible, everyone who has been so wonderful and generous make this possible. I understand how it felt to be hungry. The saddest part was if you don't have anything for Christmas. I am not talking toys or gift but don’t have any food for Christmas is heartbreaking days of one’s lives. Starving and abandoned on Christmas day is dispiriting. Christmas is a day to celebrate family togetherness and only happen one day a year. I am not trying to enabling our people from working on Christmas day; I am trying to make Christmas a Christmas share with family. Even just for one day helping alleviate starvation on our people is better than doing nothing at all about it. If you do have extra funds $1, 5, or $10 why not help?

"Bounty always receives part of its value from the manner in which it is bestowed."
